Ode to the Jumpsuit

There is something about jumpsuits that I find so sexy. Maybe its the effortless put together look they create, or maybe its just the fact that they seem to show off your shoulders and arms in the best way. Perfect for a daytime lunch, travel, or even dressed up for an evening summer party, jumpsuits are the quickest way to create a show stopping look. At 5 feet and about half an inch (every inch counts) tall, I have always been hesitant to try jumpsuits for fear that I would look like a tree stump. But paired with a pair of oh so boho chunky platform wedges would solve the smurf problem for me. This year jumpsuits are appearing in breezy fabrics with fierce prints, lace detailing, and hardware detail. There is a jumpsuit out there for every unique style, and I am loving the six shown below. Maybe if I do the MC Hammer dance, at least one of them will appear in my closet.

St. Patrick's Day

Now for the record, I am a native Brit but because of my natural red hair color (similar to a deep red wine) I get mistaken for being Irish almost all of the time. But, it is St. Patrick's Day so maybe I could go along with it for today no? I love holidays & all of the hype surrounding them. There is something about waking up on a holiday morning that just brings joy and happiness, or maybe it is the smell of baking holiday cookies. St. Patrick's day is one of those holidays where I am not truly sure how I love to celebrate it. While music festivals, big crowds clad in the holiday color, & green beer do have their rightful place on this day, I sometimes prefer the more calmer route by baking cookies and curling up with my boyfriend to watch BoonDock Saints. I have not yet decided which option I am going to take this year, but the cookies will be present no matter which route I take. First step, figuring out whether or not I want to wear green to avoid getting pinched. Is it a must to wear green on this holiday?

Finally the spring weather is starting to make its presence, which gives me the opportunity to reach for my breezy white dresses and colorful sandals. The combination of crisp white with a pop of color is a timeless one, and remains flirty & fun always. When I first spotted the Manolo Blahnik Patricia sandal, I was loving the hot pink color & comfortable suede, but not the price. The Steve Madden ASIIA Fabric Sandals are a great alternative in colors such as mauve, natural, yellow. And for the price, you can buy more than just one pair.

Oscar Night

I will admit that I am not a movie buff. My visits to the movie theater have been lacking this year, maybe because I would choose the comfort of my home over stiff chairs and sticky floors. While I did manage to catch a few Oscar nominated flicks such as Avatar, I didn't manage to build up enough desire in me to spend my Sunday night watching the big award moments. So while I am out enjoying dinner with my boyfriend and having a romantic Sunday night, my Tivo will be at work recording the pre-Oscar show, allowing me to witness the collection of red carpet gowns and extravagant hairstyles that I am sure will be present, the following day--complete with a glass of wine and some japanese sushi takeout.

The Brazilian is SO last year ladies..apparently the hottest trend to get your guy hooked on you is to get your gal blinged out..introducing Vejazzle, like Bedazzle but..well..not.

I first heard about this trend earlier today watching my Tivo'd episode of Chelsea Lately and had one of those "are you freaking kidding me, why didnt I think of this?" moment. Wearing what looks like an outfit to promote the new Telephone music video, Gaga sipped her metallic teacup with poise and grace while explaining that her outfit choices are not for show or attention, but are instead just a part of her being whatever she wants to be.

"I would rather die than have my fans not see me in a pair of high heels. I'd never give up my wigs and hats for anything."

She then removed the obvious Telephone sitting on top of her head to perform in a PVC studded bodice with fishnet tights..

While 75% of my closet is filled with solids spanning every color in the Crayon Box..Prints possessing bohemian vibes adorned with just a little bit of unique detailing..earthy natural jewelry & belts..are all starting to show their presence among the plainer pieces on my racks..

Mischa Barton was spotted after getting her hair done for 8 hours at Byron Tracy's salon..8 hours to create this look? Not sure if I am feeling the rockabilly style on her, and the color just seems a little bit off yes?

While the hair may not be a hit in my book, her adorable sweetheart fitted bodice A-Line dress definitely was. Dressing it up with a a waist defining belt adorned in seaside charms, a black Chanel chain strap purse, and gobs of rings, Mischa looked somewhat like the girl next door we remembered. Do you think her new look is doing good?

I have spent a large part of my day lusting over these adorable pieces that would cover any spring or summer event from dusk to dawn..Now if only these were actually in my closet.

The GaGa was seen exiting a London restaurant last Thursday looking like..well a deer in headlights.

How much harder do you think it would be to eat your meal without knocking people out left and right with the slightest twist of your head?

GaGa was then seen exiting her hotel on Monday in London looking like a tissue paper arts & crafts project..I know lace and ruffles are in..but really? how can she even see under the layers of "artwork"?

Did any of you get to see Lady Gaga's Grammy dress..er..ensemble..hoola hoop skirt..planetarium-esque..well whatever you would like to call it? Did you know that her outfit was the creation of Giorgio Armani?

Well you do now and it has been announced recently that Armani is taking it one step further to create one of a kind tour looks for the Lady G. She already has Versace on board with looks for her tour..but a girl can't just have ONE major designer swooning over her. I guess some gals have all the luck. While these outfits aren't exactly street worthy and would look absolutely ridiculous on 99.9% of us, you can't deny that they will look fantastic on stage during the rest of her European & Australian leg of the Monster Ball Tour. Sketches were publicly released not too long ago, and they look absolutely "Gaga-licious". (had to)

According to Vogue " Looks include a sparkly structured body suit with enhanced curved shoulders, another body suit with a lobster effect on one sleeve, a geometric mini-dress with a dramatic mirror effect, and a floor-length patent trench." Each look will be topped off with Armani specially made sunglasses and shoes.

I see Lobster detailing becoming the next crazy fashion trend no?

Armani has a fling for Gaga, describing her as "a modern fashion phenomenon".

Matchmaker has made a match, and the extra glitz from Armani will definitely give Gaga's tour a little extra sparkle.

She debuted some of the looks in Liverpool, UK last night and I managed to find a snapshot of the blue body suit number. I am a little disappointed that the high structured shoulders were not included in the final outcome.

Paris Hitlon was seen shopping at Sydney Michelle in LA on February 23rd in yet another matchy matchy ensemble. Pairing a Preen heart dress with black tights, a black studded belt, and what looks to be Christian Louboutin studded ankle boots, Paris made her presence known. Finishing the outfit off with a bow headband suitable for the ultimate girly girl, a black patent square handbag and a pair of studded oversize sunnies, her outfit looked like all the pieces were made for one another. While I am not such a fan of Paris Hilton and have yet to figure out why she is actually famous, I will give her credit for being original and daring with her feminine fashion choices.

Moroccan Oil, while a bit pricey $40.00, will last a long time and is worth every penny. (I bought mine 4 months ago and am not even a quarter of the way through the bottle). All you need is a nickel size amount to get gorgeous Moroccan worthy hair.
Moroccan Oil is a favorite of celebrities including Rachel Zoe, and was used on Miley Cyrus to create this sexy textured hair at the 52nd Grammy Awards. While I will admit that I am not a fan of Miley Cyrus in the slightest bit, her rocker wave hair did provide a perfect balance to her Herve Leger mini bandage dress. Her stylist Scott Cunha said "I always try to work with her effortless style by working with her natural hair texture, accentuating the waves with and texture with a curling iron and straightening iron."

To create this look, Cunha applied MorrocanOil Treatment to damp hair to eliminate frizz and enhance shine. He then dried her hair with a diffuser and created a dual-textured look by using a flat iron from the roots, and a curling iron to wave the rest of the hair. Cunha then applied MoroccanOil Glimmer Shine Spray to seperate and define, and then finished the look with MoroccanOil Luminous Hairspray for shine with a natural movement.

Black is the new "blah" according to Uncle Karl

While inches of snow build up outside..yet again..and everything is turning to a clean stark white, I am drooling over Chanel. At Paris Fashion Week, Karl Lagerfeld debuted a technicolor dream coat of a collection during his Summer 2010 Haute Couture Chanel show. Tulle accented shorts, metallic trimmed tweed, silver leather gloves, carved heel shoes with pearl lined soles strutted down the runway channeling what Karl Lagerfeld dubbed as "neon-barogue". Jewels, silver lame, handmade silk roses and ruffles were beautifully placed and structured to create amazing works of art. Shades of lime, champagne, and pink were the main focus and reminded me of being a kid in a candy shop.

Hair was teased and donned big gift like bows, and nails were painted a metallic silver (a new Le Vernis Chanel polish that is not available in the US just yet, as soon as I find out when I will let you know). The color could easily be mistaken for my sister's nail creation MINX nails, which are growing in popularity and will be talked about by me in the next few days. Coral lips finished off the models doll-like appearance. What do you think of this collection? Do you think its over the top or just perfection? *Sigh* Disney World is quite possibly one of my favorite places to spend a few days away. Yes, I am not quite in the range of a "child", actually quite far from it, but who says you have to REALLY grow up? While I love manicures and pedicures and all the fabulous primping, there are aspects to it that I do not love. Drying time feels like I just watched Christmas come and go and then come again, and picking a nail polish while the manicurist asks you 55 times "are you ready??" is just downright stressful! Being fair skinned, I tend to be a little bit picky about my nail color choices, but am risky at the same time. I am already a fan of the deep reds such as Essie Wicked or the darker purple-black hue of OPI Lincoln Park After Dark, but the winter is slowly (really slowly) coming to an end, and as spring makes an entrance, so does my desire for a new nail outfit. Once I find a color, I tend to stick to it, and will wear it until the bottle is empty and the brush is dry. There is no doubt that I will reach this point with Spring 2010 Chanel Particuliere. An absolutely stunning putty-ish colored natural creamy taupe hue that will seriously become your nail color staple. With it's lush, even formula and long-wearing power, the $23 price tag actually is justified. The brush makes it easy to cover a nail in two or three simple strokes, and will honestly last you a week. Its so easy to apply that I just managed to redo my home manicure while battling a sinus infection! I have been wearing it since the beginning of January and am absolutely addicted. This Chanel hue was first seen in their AMAZING fashion show and caught a major hype when the first Particuliere accented hand appeared on the walkway. Stop stressing yourself out by changing your nail color every single day in order to coordinate with your outfit, and take yourself to the nearest Chanel counter to pick up this truly versatile polish. I have been a fan of Adam Lambert since his audition on American Idol. His voice and style is absolutely incredible and I am amazed by how tasteful/incredible he has been on getting his career to where it is. His album is constantly on repeat in my car, and if you haven't bought his album "For Your Entertainment" yet then stop being silly. Go buy it now. Im serious. GO! His video for his second single off the album "Whataya Want From Me" was released not too long ago, and is so beautifully done that I just had to steer away from beauty/fashion to share this with you. But to be honest, this man is absolutely gorge and his fashion is impeccable so I'm not straying too far off the path. I wish all men dressed as well as he does. Take approximately 4 minutes out of your day to enjoy this song/vid. I guarantee you will end up with tears in your eyes, and a slightly faster heartbeat.

Walking In A Winter Wonderland

I woke up this morning only to see 2-3 inches of pure white frosting covering everything outside. There was still a decent amount of snow left from the massive storm we had back in December, so to say I am excited about what I see is far from true. But what does excite me is the opportunity to slip my knee sock adorned feet into a pair of delicious boots robust enough to handle the slush outside. I will admit that for most of my teenage years, I sported the ever so popular UGG Boots, but the transition into my twenties also caused a transition in my winter footwear selection. Don't get me wrong, I still slip my feet into the furry and cozy UGGs when I'm seeking some warmth and comfort, but for braving the frigid temperature and mess outside, I have fallen head over heels in retail love with rain boots. Hunter Rain Boots to be exact. This British boot company which began in 1856 in Edinburgh Scotland has gained a large following over the past decade and is continuing to spread like wild fire. These boots range from short to tall to with laces to without and even gloss enhanced. I am partial to the Hunter Women's Original Tall Gloss Boot and am seen most frequently in my black pair. (although I am just as equally in love with my navy). These gorgeous knee high boots come in an array of 12 colors that will satisfy any color palette in your wardrobe. With their rugged soul, and adorable buckle detailing you will be sure to catch a glimpse from any passing pedestrian while confidently trekking through slippery snow piles. Hunter Boots have been seen more frequently on celebrity feet, and have even made appearances in a few box office movies. Pair them with skinny jeans, shorts, and dresses for an old English country twist. They fit and feel so perfect that I wear them even in the lightest misting of rain. But with my love for the knee high casual boot and my United Kingdom citizenship, I think I will be wearing these snow, rain, or shine. Now that the New Year celebration has come to an end and I have completely recovered from the chaos, I can begin creating my first blog focusing on all things pertaining to beauty and fashion.
